Why Do I Do What I Do?
Every year, over 42 million adults in the United States suffer debilitating, life altering, chronic neck and back pain. According to the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), more than 450,000 spinal fusion surgeries were performed in 2011 and the rate continues to grow.
As a clinician, specializing in biomechanics and rehabilitation of the spine, and a patient (retired Mixed Martial Arts – MMA fighter and semi-pro ice hockey player) who has recovered from multiple sports related injuries, this experience drives my passion to bring new technologies to the market for the elimination of the torturing disability associated with chronic neck and back pain for millions of people worldwide. As a result, I have led multiple engineering, surgeon consultant, sales, and marketing teams from concept through commercialization for development and market release of over 75 spinal implant systems; navigating patent, FDA regulatory, compliance and reimbursement landscapes.
Since my first successful product launch with Theken Spine in 2007, I remain focused on increasing procedural efficiency and patient outcomes through development of innovative products, manufactured on the most technologically advanced platforms, and utilizing irreproachable quality standards to treat painful and debilitating spinal pathologies.
